Biography
ˇ@ˇ@Mr Upul Gamage has had a keen interest in philosophy, especially in Buddhism and meditation, since he was young. He met meditation teacher Mr Godwin Samararatne in 1970s and followed him to learn meditation. In 1986, he accepted Godwin's invitation to stay at Nilambe Meditation Centre, where Godwin was the chief meditation teacher, and helped Godwin manage the Meditation Centre until Godwin passed away in 2000. Since then, Upul has continued the work of Godwin at Nilambe Meditation Centre and become the chief residential meditation teacher of the Centre. He has taught meditation to various people at different places in Sri Lanka including hospitals and universities in Peradeniya, Buddhist Publication Society in Kandy, monasteries and prisons.

ˇ@ˇ@Upul is approachable and down to earth. He always provides sharp insights as how to improve the practice. His talks and retreats given in Hong Kong last year and in Germany and Sweden early this year were well received.
